Great news! If you are searching for an answer to this question then the answer is that yes, your child’s age range is probably PERFECT for Santa photos! Why? Because at the end of the day, there is no minimum or maximum age requirement for Santa photos. If you think there is a chance your child is the right age then they are! It’s never too early or too late, the only different is the expectation and the results. But what is the BEST age? Well, let’s break it all down for you starting from the top.
Is my child too young for Santa photos?
Newborn babies have been photographed with Santa. This means that your child can literally NEVER too young for Santa photos. But what can you expect? This depends on your baby’s mood. If they are newborn then just like any newborn photo session, your baby may sleep through it all. For babies 1-2 years old, if the baby is in a relaxed and happy mood and you can expect sweet and curious photos with Santa. Something that helps, regardless of the age of the child, is the importance of feeding and overall snack breaks. While Santa will serve cookies, we still encourage parents to bring any of your child’s favorite snack. This way they have something to nibble on in between photos.
If your baby is scared and not interested in Santa, parents are always welcomed to join in on the session and hold the baby. But rest assured, the AFP Santa Experience works with a Santa that is very gentle. He will allow your baby to slowly warm up to him on their terms.
Is my child too old for Santa photos?
A child is absolutely NEVER too old for Santa photos. Whether your child is 5 years old or 50 years old, they are not too old to enjoy the magic of Christmas in a sweet Santa themed photo session.

One of the biggest things we see are families with large age gaps between children. Say you have a 5 year old and a 14 year old. They will both have different opinions about Santa however, whether they pretend for the sake of their younger sibling or maybe they simply still have that spark inside of them, all ages end up having a magical time during the experience.
But what is the BEST age for Santa photos?
So while ANY age is perfect for Santa photos, if you are looking for the prime age, the age where this is a DREAM COME TRUE… Where the magic in their eyes shines SO bright when they see Santa… then you’re probably looking at anywhere between 4-10 years old (slightly varies per child). This is the age when they are old enough to start to understand who Santa is and young enough that they still fully believe. This would be the prime age group to experience the most magic during a Santa photo session. So if you’re looking to capture that magical wander in their eyes and your child is already within the 4-10 years old age range, consider booking as soon as possible, because you never know when they will start believing those terrible, terrible rumors… 😉
But again, this is all subjective depending on your child.
I am a full grown adult and every time I see Santa I turn 5 years old again. It’s like walking into Disney World, it gives me that same effect of suddenly feeling magical and happy.
